South Korea: Yongsan Gets Heavy Rain As Monsoon Season Starts

YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea - Heavy rainfall means the start of monsoon season. This morning, the first heavy rain of the year dropped several inches of water on Seoul in less than an hour. Garrison officials are reminding tenant units of the Destructive Weather plan.

"We want all units to be aware of the heavy rain and its potential impact on operations," said U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan Operations Director Gerald Casey. "Keep the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security apprised of any flooding."

"In Korea, it is possible to have more than 20 inches of rainfall in a 24-hour period," said Keith Pruitt, USAG-Yongsan DPTMS plans and operations officer.
